There are 2 ways to join First Knights either through the website or in game through an officer.
We recommend all applicants read the Rules, Philosophy and a FAQ to make sure our guild suits your needs and playstyle.
Through the website:
You start the recruitment process by filling out the application form. During this you will be asked to provide a working email address to set up an account on the website. The account won't become active until you verify your email address by clicking the link in the email that will be sent once you complete the form.
To make your application as smooth as possible please give as much information as you think is appropriate. Once your application is submitted, the Council will review it and grant you the rank of Squire (recruit) if your application is in order.
You will receive an email either accepting or rejecting your application. If you were accepted, you should be able to log into the website as a First Knight. The first time you log in you will be prompted to add your game character(s) to your profile, please do so to help smooth the next step.
To get an invite in game you will need to contact one of our Officers or a member of the Council who can invite you to the guild. A full list of Council members and Officers and the names of their alts can be found in the list on the right side of the page.
Once you get invited in game, you start a 2 week trial period. At the end of the 2 week trial your application will be reviewed again by the Council and if everything is satisfactory you will be promoted to the rank of Knight and become a full member of First Knights.
Contact an Officer in game and apply for membership in First Knights. The Officer will have a short chat with you and ask you a few quick questions to see if you would be a good addition to First Knights.
After the chat, if the Officer is satisfied that you would make a good addition to First Knights, you will be invited into the guild and will be asked to sign up on our website. You have until the end of your trial period to sign up on the site. However, it is recommended to do this ASAP.
Once you are invited in game, your 2 week trial period starts. You are required to sign up to the website by the end of your trial and add your in game character(s) to your profile. If you don't sign up by the end of your trial you won't be accepted as a full member of First Knights and will be removed from the kinship.
At the end of the 2 week trial your application will be reviewed again by the Council and if everything is satisfactory you will be promoted to the rank of Knight and become a full member of First Knights.
First Knights is a casual guild for all gamers over the age of 18, but with a clear emphasis on the more casual gamers, those that no longer spend a large number of hours playing MMORPGs because of their real life commitments. Having real life commitments does not mean we no longer enjoy being part of an MMORPG and have lots of fun with friends. It just means we play more casually and possibly not as many hours.
Within First Knights we do not believe in harsh rules or a "pyramid" structure per se. We do have a Council that leads the guild who decide together on major changes within the kinship and Officers that help manage the day to day workings in game. We have also made a few rules and guidelines that we ask all our members to follow and live by. These rules and guidelines have been put in place to avoid problems and other issues that may arise in time.
We try to make everyone feel at home in First Knights. We do not like the idea of someone feeling outside and not part of our kin - this is something we try to avoid at all cost. The Council is always willing to help and assist members if they should have any questions, concerns or find themselves in trouble. Should you ever feel you have something you need to express or have clarified, feel free to contact an Officer or member of the Council in or outside of the game.
Our main goal IS to have fun, relax and enjoy the games we play.
Treat other players with respect. No harassment! And if possible, be helpful.
Help your fellow Knights whenever possible with quests, crafting or any questions they may have.
Accept that changes (patches) made in game have nothing to do with your fellow Knights, so bash a wall instead of them when you get frustrated or go tell it to the game developer instead.
Not be using any third party programs that can help your progress in game - this includes but isn't limited to cheats/leveling services/RMT (gold buying/selling). If you get caught doing so, we will report you to the Game Masters and you will be permanently removed from the kin.
Be an active part of our website. Make sure you try and visit our site 1-2 times a week and also post in the forum from time to time. We know real life comes first and can prevent you from doing so, which is totally understandable. If you must be absent from the game or website for longer periods of time, please make sure you tell us on the forum first in the Wanderers section. If you are inactive in-game or on the website for 30 days without notice, you risk being removed from the guild.
Remember that you are part of a guild - every move you make, every action you take and every word you speak might have an impact on the First Knights, good or bad. We do not tolerate bad behaviour! Extreme cases will result in permanent removal from First Knights.
Not use foul language, express racism or other bad behaviour in any forums, chat channels etc. Extreme cases, especially racism, will lead to an instant removal from First Knights, as well as a report to a GM if applicable.
Accept when a Council member/Officer tells you to stop a discussion, harassment or any other behaviour that is deemed unwanted by the Council member/Officer. Further discussion is not always the way, and warnings are given from time to time!
Not sell items that another Knight has offered to you for free, or charge another Knight for crafting (asking them to provide the materials needed to craft an item is of course perfectly acceptable). Need before greed is what we live by!
We are a casual PVE guild for The Elder Scrolls Online (EU Server). First Knights is part of the Daggerfall Covenant.
Who is your leader?
Although First Knights was founded by Loge, we do not have a single leader. All major guild decisions are made by the Council. The members of the Council discuss changes and issues and make decisions together based on a majority vote. The Officers manage the day to day workings in game.
A full list of the currently active Council and Officers (and all their characters) can be found in the handy link box at the top of the page.
Do you accept all nationalities?
We accept all nationalities but we are a European based guild and English is the main language used in all kin communications and chat. This means members are mainly in the GMT and CET time zones, so peak times for activity in our guild are usually evenings/nights in these time zones and during the weekends.
Do you have an age requirement?
Yes. Our minimum age requirement for joining First Knights is 18 years. Although some people may mature at an early age, we feel that the age of 18 is one that starts to define a person in a certain way which we are looking for. However, we do make an exception for children of members. The parent is responsible for the child in game as much as in real life. This is primarily a mature guild so any children are admitted on the understanding that there may on occasion be conversations in guild chat that some parents may deem unsuitable for a child. While nobody will go out of their way to offend a child, things can be said in the heat of battle, or while under the influence of one too many ales, that could be unsuitable...
Do you use any in-game voice chat program?
We run our own private Mumble server which is mainly used for grouping, although some members also use it at other times. Members can find details on how to join up with our Mumble server in our forums.
On which servers do you play?
We currently play on the EU mega server.
Do you accept all classes, races and levels?
Do you have an activity rule?
Yes, we do. We have a 30 day activity rule in-game and for our website. If you don't abide by this rule, you could be removed from the guild, without warning.
Why do you have a 30 day activity rule?
Even though we are a casual guild, we think that 30 days is a fair span of time for you to log in and check the site for news or log in the game if you are an active player. There is a lot of administration work in keeping track of all members and making sure the guild runs as smoothly as possible. The 30 day rule helps us weed out players who have perhaps left the game or are not interested in being an active member of a guild.
What if I fall below the 30 day rule due to real life stuff?
If you know in advance that you will fall below the 30 day rule, you're required to post that information in the "Wanderers" forum on our website. It only takes a few moments of your time to make a post to let us know that you'll be away and when you expect to come back. Please remember to post in that thread again when you're back! If you do not do this and you fall below the 30 day rule, we will assume that you're not playing the game any more or do not have enough interest in the game or in First Knights and you could end up being removed from the guild.
Do I get a warning before a purge?
A "purge" is a periodic clean-up of our website and in game member list. We will send out a warning before we do a purge and give notice to those that are below the required activity level before removal. In case of extreme inactivity or repeated failures to follow the 30 day activity rule we will remove you without giving notice. It is up to you to let us know in the "Wanderers" forum if you can't be here or don't want to be here any more.
What if I have been removed from the guild in-game and my website account has been deleted, but I still want to be a First Knight?
If you, for some reason, have been removed by mistake, you are invited to contact us and we will let you back in our ranks. If one of your in-game characters has been removed and your account is still active, we apologize for the mistake. Please contact an Officer or Council member (either in-game or by using the "contact us" link on this page) and we will enlist you among our ranks again.
When did you found First Knights?
First Knights was founded on August 22nd, 2007 as a Lord of the Rings Online Kinship on Snowbourn server.
