We get atleast 3-4 hours of "night" during summers down here.. Winter, we almost never see the light, lots of depression =p

anyway, I was being philosophological

In the summers it stays light until around 10:30-11pm... and in the winters it gets dark around 3-4pm

Doubt Lin has daytime at night.. I don´t even and shes further south. Up north it is constant sun in the summers at times though =)

I think this one works as a cd/dvd unit, and can be booted from by selecting it in bios, I might be wrong though. Gonna try it.

Hmmm... I flashed hdd in windows, piece of cake. Dunno if anything happend. Was the same firmware id as before, so I might have had the latest one. Oh well.. hopefully it works.

The USB stick needs to be bootable still. My OCZ ssd here at work is flashed from a bootable CD that you download from their site somewhere. My Intel ones at home are flashed in Windows...

Gonna go flash my motherboard bios now.. and after that Ill upgrade the firmware.. I can already boot through usb stick in bios, so no need to get smth else for it =)

My old SSD was IDE mode and I did run updates on that

You can normally get some software from their website that will make the USB stick bootable then you just stick the firmware on there and boot from the USB

And that is, a drive which I cannot enter atm.

Seems the best option is to do it in AHCI mode.. doesn´t say it wont work in IDE mode, just that it won´t work in RAID mode. Is it safe to do it when the drive is still in IDE mode, cause I can´t change to AHCI without tweaking the actual drive.

And how... start through stick and not hdd?

I normally do mine with a USB stick

Ofc I have a ssd. Can i upgrade the firmware from another hdd? Thank god i got a super old one that still works.

You got an SSD Ami? If so check for a firmware update, since they tend to address sodding bsods...

I think they have. Atleast I can play skyrim now. After an upgrade of windows too see if that fixes my need of f12 on startup to forceload the hdd. My ISP has been broke for two days now :'(

Im such a genious. Pressed f12 and forced hdd to load after checking that it actually works with my brothers comp. Reading is good and f8 isnt always the case lol. Now Im just waiting on interwebz. Sry for bombing here. I feel so lonely without acces

Ive tried to remove one ram at a time, to see if its any of them. Its not one, might be two. Ive come to the conclusion its hdd related as well, hopefully I can borrow one from my brother to see, although I have 3 and none of em seems to work.

Sounds like may be a harddisk failure. Check bios not got knackered (might be a dead cmos battery), or cables. Then it's a reinstall on a fresh disk I'm afraid...

Now my computer seems to be failing me. Halts at "Loading operating system" anyone know what I can do? Worked yesterday when I went to bed Going mental soon.
